Diving into TexThings: A Marvel Among Chrome Extensions
One such utility that stands out among top Chrome extensions is TexThings. With an impressive aggregate rating of 4.01 out of 5, this tool converts web pages to PDFs and typesets any LaTeX found on webpages using MathJax. Users can simply type their math inline or display it with various modes, and TexThings will do the rest.
Why is TexThings a Fan Favorite Among Chrome Extensions?
The reason behind TexThings' popularity and high rating can be attributed to its notable features and positive user reviews. The extension allows customization of domains and enables users to set their own custom delimiters for inline and display math. Users can also disable/re-enable typesetting on every domain by clicking the extension's toolbar button.
User Reviews: A Mix of Praise and Constructive Criticism
User feedback, both positive and negative, provide valuable insights into the TexThings' strengths and areas for improvement. Users applaud its functionality and simplicity, with comments like "It's working with chat gpt" and "É simples mas funciona muito bem!". On the other hand, there are suggestions for improvement, such as supporting equations and packages, and the need for a switch to prevent rendering while Chatgpt is still generating an answer.
TexThings: A Promising Tool Worth Your Consideration
Despite some feedback on improvements, the TexThings Chrome extension shines in its purpose and is highly recommended for users who need to frequently convert web pages to PDFs and typeset LaTeX on webpages. As an open-source Chrome extension, you can also contribute to making it better by reporting bugs and sending pull requests on GitHub.

works as intended!
Excellent! Works exactly as described
Good extension - also confirmed it causes google workplace (docs/ sheets/ slides) to crash as google workplace doesn't want extension to overwrite its interface (error message: Try reloading as a first step. See what else you can do to fix this error). Maybe add an allow-list or blocked list for users to edit domains? Thanks!
Expect to add more custom inline formulas and out-of-line identification methods, now only one custom option is not enough.
As of May, 2024; No longer works. Neither gives out possible errors.
really like it when it works, but seems to break google docs/slides even when it's set to a whitelist and not allowed on google docs... annoying to have to keep disabling and reenabling.
Used to work great on ChatGPT... now it does not. Example the following is not rendered (settings allow $) The famous equation by Albert Einstein is $E = mc^2$. But then it is writing correctly the following (and strange thing custom \( \) is actually disabled in settings) The famous equation by Albert Einstein is written as \( E = mc^2 \).
Works straight out of the box, unlike the other github specific LaTeX extension. Thanks!
Sometimes don't work. Probably messing with settings is causing this.
Worked well, but somehow since 1 or 2 weeks ago this extension has blocked me from using GSheets, GDocs, Looker Studio or Google Forms
It's working with chat gpt
